Our former Principal Mrs Baxter loves to read. She was interviewed by the team of library monitors. The interview below is very informative and interesting.

 

1. Did you always want to be a Principal? If you weren’t a Principal what would you be?

No I didn’t. I worked in hospitals for twenty years before I started teaching. I wanted to be a nurse.

 

2. What was your favourite subject in school? / Does that affect the type of books that you are into?

My favourite subject at school was Maths. It was quicker to do. English has lots of essays and writing.

 

3. Do you like reading books? What is your favourite book and who is it by?

My favourite books are ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien’. I also like ‘Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling’.

 

4. What is your favourite genre?

I actually like romantic books.

 

5. Have you ever met an author?

No

 

6. If you could meet an author who would it be?

J. K. Rowling. She started washing up in a cafe’. She is a success story.

 

7. Do you read for information or pleasure?

Both. I like to read one story book and a teaching book. I like to read books about how to run a school.

 

8. If you could be a character in a book who would you like to be and why?

I am reading a book called ‘The Nightingale Series’ I have read up to book 6 and I am now on book 7.  I would like to be the matron in this series.

 

9. What is your favourite book that has been turned into a film?

Charlotte’s Web

 

10. What version do you think is better, the book or the film?

The book. It has more detail in it.

 

11. What was your childhood dream regarding your career goals?

I wanted to be a nurse. I have run hospitals. I enjoy schools now. I wouldn’t go back to being a nurse.

 

12. What is your favourite sport?

Running. I’ve taken it up ten years ago and now I’ve joined a club.

 

13. What is your favourite food?

Smoked Salmon

 

14. How many languages do you speak?

One
